Aims

This course explores how cognitive psychology offers insights into the operation of human mental processes. It aims to guide students to master the major concepts, theories and research of cognitive psychology, and apply them to daily life where appropriate.

Contents

The course covers the following topics:

  • Foundations of cognitive psychology
  • Perception
  • Attention
  • Memory I, II
  • Conceptual knowledge
  • Visual recognition and visual imagery
  • Language
  • Problem solving and decision making
  • Intelligence

Learning support

There will be ten tutorials and three day schools.

Assessment

There are five assignments and a final examination.

Online requirement

Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
