Enrolment Requirement(s)

Only students in the Bachelor of Nursing (Pathway 1) or the Bachelor of Nursing (Pathway 2) programme may enrol in NURS 3405NED.

For this Bachelor of Nursing programme, students should take NURS 3405NED in their first year of study, and NURS 3403NED and NURS 3404NED in their second year of study.

Aims

This course aims to strengthen students' knowledge and skills in all aspects of health assessment and enhance students' understanding of the philosophy, theories, concepts, models, development and implementation of primary health care and nursing practice in the primary health care context.

  • Psychosocial and cultural assessment
  • Physical assessment
  • Health assessment across the lifespan and complete health assessment
  • Fundamental concepts and philosophies of primary health care
  • Primary health care in community setting
  • Global impact and effective governance on primary health care
  • Nurses' roles and the development of primary health care in Hong Kong

Learning support

There will be 16 hours of online interactive tutorials plus two sessions of 4-hour surgeries.

Assessment

There will be two written assignments (for continuous assessment) and one final written examination. Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE) while attending the examination in person.
