Aims

The overall aims of MGT 4029BED Leadership in a Changing World are to:

  • Developing students' understanding of the fundamental ideas, theories and models of leadership in a changing world and how they apply to their own work and the environment in which you live.
  • Enhance students' capacity to interact with and use leadership concepts and skills in relation to their own experiences and self-awareness in order to become effective leaders.
  • Provide students with an understanding of some of the challenges leaders face in turbulent contexts and how they tackle them.

Contents

The course covers the following topics:

  • Leadership in a turbulent world
  • Developing leadership opportunities
  • Addressing leadership challenges

Learning support

There will be eight one-hour online lectures, 16 one-hour online surgery and two six-hour compulsory face-to-face day schools.

The dates for the compulsory face-to-face day school(s) are as follows:

Assessment

There are two assignments, one application-based assessments (to be completed during compulsory day schools), one oral presentation (compulsory), as well as polling questions for online lectures. Assignments should be prepared with Microsoft Word and submitted to Turnitin for plagiarism checking via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).

Equipment

Students will need access to a personal computer with an Internet connection.
