Important notes
This course will be taught via face-to-face mode, commencing in September 2019. Lectures and tutorials will be scheduled on weekday evenings and / or Saturdays.

Aims
This course aims to provide students with fundamental knowledge of stylistic analysis, including its theories and purposes, which will be put into practice by applying the ideas to analyse a range of discourses that target public audiences. Students will learn how to identify and name features of texts that constitute their style, recognize the cognitive and affective effects of stylistic elements and examine their social, cultural and historical implications.

Thirty-nine hours in total.

Assessment
The continuous assessment portion of the course accounts for 60% of the total course score, while the final examination accounts for the remaining 40% of the total course score. Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
