Aims

This course aims to examine the functions of global governance and the impact of international governmental organisations in a wide range of global issues. This course accounts for the development of multilateral institutions and examines the changes in the global order with the emergence of these new players.

The course will place a particular emphasis on contemporary international organisations such as the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU), amongst others. Traditional problems such as international security, development and aid alongside global inequality will be discussed, while pressing policy issues such as global warming and transnational financial regulations will also be investigated.
