Aims
The course aims to equip students with analytical tools to solve problems relating to corporate finance and risk management. It helps students acquire the skills necessary for making rational financial and risk decisions.
Contents
The course covers the following topics:
- Overview of corporate finance
- Investment decisions: Capital budgeting
- Cost of capital and capital structure of a firm
- Corporate financing decisions: Working capital management
- Corporate financing decisions: Dividend policy and patterns of financing
- Selected topics in corporate finance
- Risk management
Contact hours
Normally five hours per week.
Assessment
The continuous assessment portion of the course accounts for 40% of the total course score, while the final examination accounts for the remaining 60% of the total course score. Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
