Aims
This course aims to provide learners with a solid knowledge about investment management. It introduces the modern investment theories that provide economic rationales for making investment decisions.

Contents
The course covers the following topics:

  • Overview of investment theory
  • Efficient market hypothesis and asset pricing models
  • Common stocks
  • Fixed income securities
  • Portfolio management and introduction to derivatives

Learning support
There will be five two-hour tutorials and one two-hour surgery.

Assessment
There are two assignments and one examination. Students must use word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) to prepare the assignments, and submit the assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
