Aims

ENGL 1110EED aims to develop students' basic skills and knowledge in English listening and speaking, and also their English proficiency in listening and speaking in academic, social, and workplace contexts.

Contents

Self-introductions in social and work settings, coherence and clarity in spoken texts, syllables and stress, listening and speaking within an academic setting, public speaking

Learning support

Tutorials, online forums.

There are seven two-hour tutorial sessions.

Assessment

Assignment 1 (20%)

Assignment 2 (20%)

Final examination (60%)

Electronic submission of assignments

Except for some designated assignments, students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).

Students with disabilities or special educational needs

Students are required to submit application with supporting document(s) to the Registry for approval regarding the extra time for an individual assignment submission or the end-of-course examination.
