Compulsory Prerequisite(s)

Completed at least 30 credit-units from the Electronics programme.

Aims

This course aims to provide students with the opportunity to conduct independent research in the field of educational technology and innovation. Students will develop and apply research skills, critically analyse data, and contribute original insights to the field.

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  1. formulate research questions or hypotheses related to educational technology and innovation;
  2. design a research plan that outlines the methodology and expected outcomes;
  3. conduct research using appropriate methods and tools; and
  4. critically analyse and interpret the research findings.

Learning support

This course uses an individualised instruction model to guide students in mastering various research skills, enabling them to conduct a project study related to educational technology and innovation. There will be 78 hours of tutorials with a supervisor.

Assessment

The assessment in this course consists of three assignments (100%).

Online requirement

This course is supported by the Online Learning Environment (OLE). Students must access the OLE for course updates, communication with tutors and peers, and submission of assignments.

Equipment

A PC-compatible computer ready for connecting to the Internet is essential. The minimum configuration of the computer is:

  • PC with an x86 CPU or equivalent
  • 1GB RAM
  • Hard disk
  • Sound card with speakers

You need to be familiar with the basic use of a computer including keyboard, mouse and word processing software. Experience in using email, the Internet and the World Wide Web is also essential.

Software

You should have Windows with Microsoft Word. Other software will be downloaded from the Internet. You may need to use OpenOffice to prepare assignment answers.
