ECON 2001ACD

Aims

ECON 2001AED aims to introduce students to the problems of microeconomics and enable them to explore the ways in which private and government agents deal with the issues. The course will cover economic efficiency and resource allocation, market versus command economy, product markets and market structure.

Contents

The course covers the following topics:

  • What is economics?
  • Demand, supply and markets
  • Firm organisation, production and cost
  • Market structure and market power

Learning support

There will be 9 contact hours of tutorials for this course.

Assessment

Two assignments and one final examination.  The two compulsory assignments carry 50% weight and the final exam counts for the other 50% of the final mark.

Online requirement

Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
