Aims
This course aims to provide learners with knowledge of the principles and skills in financial accounting, and to develop learners' awareness to the institutional and regulatory framework of financial reporting. The course also introduces and analyses accounting for a corporation's operating, investing and financing activities.

Contents
The course covers the following topics:

  • An overview of financial accounting
  • Operating activities
  • Financing activities
  • Investing activities
  • Other issues in financial accounting

Learning support
There will be four three-hour tutorials and one six-hour day school.

Assessment
There are two assignments and one examination. Students must use word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) to prepare the assignments, and submit the assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).

Equipment
Students will need access to a personal computer with an Internet connection.
