Aims

This course aims to introduce students to the study of second language writing, with a focus on writing produced by ESL/EFL users in Hong Kong. It is designed to provide students with an overview of the key issues and principles related to second language writing in today's digital world.

Contents

The course covers primarily the following topics:

  • Second language writing principles
  • Second language writers
  • Course design and lesson planning
  • Writing tasks
  • Technology in writing
  • Feedback on students' writing

Learning Support

Two-hour lectures will be conducted face-to-face.

Assessment

There are three components: quiz (30%), assignment (30%) and final examination (40%).

Online requirement

Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
