Curtis Choy Tak-hei, a student in the Electronic and Computer Engineering programme, received the Student Best Paper Award at the 15th IEEE Symposium on Computer Applications and Industrial Electronics for his final year project, titled “Parallel Implementation of Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition in EEG Signal Processing”.
Two student teams won Third Prize in different categories at the 11th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. In the Information Technology category, the team of Chui Tsz-ching, Yip On-tik, Lee Chak-yin and Eugene Wu Long-fung were awarded Third Prize with the innovative solution “Smart Glasses for Hearing Impaired in Hong Kong”, while PhD student Sun Jing's innovative project, “A Self-Powered Wearable Electrochemical Sensor Based on Composite Conductive Hydrogel Medium for Detection of Lactate in Human Sweat”, secured Third Prize in the Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering category.
