Digitalization technology and the Internet are bringing dramatic changes to the mass media. Boundaries among media have become blurred, and there is a tendency of convergence in media jobs. Nowadays media incumbents not only participate in script writing but also need to understand the operation of the media industry. The free courseware The Development of the Media and Its Audience begins with a general introduction to the development of the media, demonstrating the evolution of information transmission from the use of simple tools such as knots and smoke signals in ancient times, to the expression and dissemination of complex and complicated messages through various new media today.

These two day-time programmes are available for holders of Associate Degree or Higher Diploma in Science or related disciplines.
Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge to hold employment in the many professions associated with biological science, chemical science, environmental protection, management and sustainable development.
Students will learn through attending day-time weekday and weekend lectures, tutorials and lab sessions. Course materials will be provided to facilitate students' independent learning, and printed and multimedia resources from the distance learning programmes will also be included. |
