Research & Knowledge Transfer

Bevacizumab (Bev), a drug used as first-line treatment of colorectal and lung cancer, commonly induces hypertension. Recent research led by Dr Emily Wong at the School of Science and Technology found the antidote to this adverse effect in an active compound of Danshen. Her team is now working to identify the best extraction method of Danshen for concurrent treatment with Bev.

A study led by Dr Sandy Choi Pin-pin reveals generational discrepancies in nurses' commitment to work, preferred modes of team collaboration, and perspectives on the role and preferred leadership styles of nurse managers. Different generations of nurse managers also exhibit differences in specific areas of competencies. To retain and attract talent, the research team calls for a rethink of the notion of management competencies to develop effective strategies for leading a multi-generational workforce.
