The notion of a 'navigating home', as proposed in Dr Terence Shum's research, examines how Africans in Hong Kong negotiate accommodation barriers and navigate space of belongings. His findings have practical implications on work to help migrant and on Hong Kong's housing policy.

Drawing on previous studies and new empirical data from Hong Kong Cantonese, Dr Cherry Lam will put forward a framework that, by capturing both the intrinsic modal nature of dak1 (得) and its fine-grained interpretational distinctions, demonstrates how these seemingly distinct constructions are in fact closely connected and condenses identified cross-linguistic variation to learnable parameters.

The dates of the conference, postponed earlier due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, have been set, and the call for papers is open again (till 25 Sep)! With the theme of 'achieving excellence in elderly care through gerontechnology', the conference will look at the most recent innovations, trends, and challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the development and use of gerontechnology. Overseas attendees are welcome to attend via Zoom.
