AAOU Meritorious Service Award 2002

The Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) has conferred its Meritorious Service Award 2002 on OUHK President Prof. Tam Sheung-wai in recognition of his distinguished contributions to the development of open and distance education over the last decade.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Tam remarked that the award belonged not just to him but also his team of talented and hard working colleagues at the OUHK. He said he was glad to see the AAOU going from strength to strength despite the many differences in terms of size and culture among member institutions. He called on member institutions to collaborate more and give support to counterparts with inadequate resources, so that the AAOU could continue to grow and lead the world in open and distance education.

Prof. Tam is the fourth person presented the award since it was established in 1997.
