Outstanding Young Persons share their journey to realising dreams

On 9 January, the Development and Alumni Affairs Office hosted an alumni sharing session, featuring three distinguished alumni and a guest speaker, all of whom received the Ten Outstanding Young Persons award. The three alumni speakers were renowned Hong Kong Chinese chess player Mr Jet Chou Sai-kit, Executive Director of the Hok Yau Club Mr Leung Kwok-shing and Hong Kong ice-climbing athlete Ms Janet Kung Tsz-shan. They were joined by guest speaker Mr Shawn Cheung Siu-lun, a former Hong Kong National Team fencer. In a chit-chat session with Vice President (Research and Institutional Advancement) Prof. Ricky Kwok Yu-kwong under the theme “Going beyond Limits: Impossible is Fun”, they shared their aspirations and obstacles during their journey to realising their dreams.

Forging collaborations to expand student opportunities 

Since late last year, HKMU has entered into multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with various organisations to broaden internship, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for students and graduates, while fostering academic–industry collaboration.

On 15 Novemeber 2024, HKMU signed an agreement with Sun Yat-sen University Science Park (SYSUSP). Through this collaboration, the Student Affairs Office will nominate students, graduates or project teams to establish themselves at the Foshan Hong Kong–Macao Youth Entrepreneurship Centre operated by SYSUSP, while facilitating exchange activities.

On 16 December of the same year, HKMU signed an agreement with the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Base to strengthen support for students in internship placements, employment and entrepreneurship development within the Bay Area. The University was also officially designated as a Hong Kong Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Service Station, offering students and graduates guidance and support.

Moving into 2025, the School of Nursing and Health Sciences signed an MoU with the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Pharmacists Association on 15 February to advance talent development and research collaboration in Chinese medicine.

On 27 February, the University strengthened its partnership with Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, focusing on applied research and talent cultivation in areas such as digital entertainment, smart city and smart living. Students will also benefit from expanded internship opportunities and support for entrepreneurial projects.

Additionally, on 15 April, HKMU signed an MoU with Kai Shing Management Services Limited, which provides students with internship and employment opportunities through their summer internship and mainland China internship programmes, as well as the Property Officer Trainee and Technical Trainee programmes.
