The "OUHK-Alunmi" service inside OUHK's campuses (hereafter referred to as the Service) is a free Wi-Fi service which is provided by The Open University of Hong Kong (hereafter referred to as the OUHK) to alumni of OUHK. Users of the Service MUST comply with this Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).
The setup of AUP is intended to prevent any abuse of the Service and of the Internet which the Service is connected to. Under normal situation, the OUHK will not execute any control or inspection on the content passing through the Service, but the OUHK will keep monitoring the health of the Service on a best effort basis. However, the OUHK reserves the right to investigate, access, record, remove, block or restrict by appropriate means any materials that may, in OUHK's sole discretion, be illegal, violate the AUP, damage the health of the Service; or subject the OUHK to any legal liability or undesirable consequence. The OUHK may cooperate with legal authorities and/or third parties in the investigation of any suspected or alleged crime or wrongdoings, without prior notice or consent from user. The violation of this AUP may result in the immediate suspension or termination of the access to the Service without prior notice and, if applicable, legal action against the offender.
Use of the Service
You acknowledge that you have the risks of receiving or being exposed to content, goods, or services which you may consider to be unsafe, unprotected, improper, inaccurate, misleading, defamatory, obscene or otherwise offensive. You acknowledge that the Service is not a guaranteed service which may be slow, unstable or disconnected at any time. You agree that the OUHK is not liable for any action or inaction against such risks or performance through the Service.
Your Responsibilities
After accepting the AUP, you must
(1) comply with Hong Kong and international laws and regulations, including but not limited to copyright and intellectual property rights laws.
(2) provide all necessary information of the equipment to be connected to the Service,
(3) avoid doing any action that likely disturb others or against OUHK's interests.
You agree that you shall be solely responsible for all liabilities arising from your activity being conducted via the Service and that you shall bear all risks and consequences including your loss in any form, arising from direct or indirect use of the Service.
Note: The OUHK possesses the full and final discretion to explain this document.
