class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em><strong>Title<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p>New Developments in High-performance Steel-Concrete Composite Structures<\/p><p><strong style=\"font-style: italic;\">Abstract<\/strong><\/p><p>Concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) members have been widely used in large-span bridges, high-rise buildings, immersed tunnels, bridge towers, etc., due to their great behaviour and high construction efficiency. With advancements in material technologies, high-performance materials such as high-strength steel (HS), clad steel (CS), high-strength concrete (HC), and ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) are increasingly used in CFST members, resulting in high-performance CFST structures. This presentation discusses two major types of high-performance CFST members, i.e., thin-walled and high-strength. For thin-walled CFST members, the slenderness limits to categorize compact, noncompact, and slender CFST members were proposed; effective stress-strain relationships considering the effects of local buckling and concrete confinement were developed; and design equations to estimate the axial compressive strength and flexural strength were provided. He is the Director of Research of Fuzhou University and the Dean of the College of Civil Engineering at Fuzhou University. He is also an Associate Editor of ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering. He has been working on steel-concrete composite structures for 15 years and has published 3 books and more than 90 journal papers. His research is the basis of AISC 360-22 for the design of composite members. He has received many research awards including the ASCE Alfred Noble Prize, SSRC Vinnakota Award (Honorable Mention), and Structures Best Research into Practice Paper Prize.
