class=\"content-box-heading\" data-inline-fontsize=\"true\" data-inline-lineheight=\"true\" data-fontsize=\"18\" data-lineheight=\"23\">Biography<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"content-container\"><h5>Prof Roger Scully has been Dean of Arts and Social Sciences at Hong Kong Metropolitan University since August 2025.<\/h5><h5>Prof Scully completed his undergraduate and masters degrees in his native United Kingdom before studying for a doctorate at the Ohio State University in the United States. A political scientist by training, his published work includes multiple authored, co-authored and edited volumes as well as numerous articles in some of the top journals within the social sciences. In addition to political science, his published work has contributed to knowledge within history, law, psychology, sociology and, in some recent collaborations, sports sciences and public health.<\/h5><h5>Prior to becoming Dean, Prof Scully had held a number of major leadership roles, including as Head of Politics and International Relations at Cardiff University, Chair of the Political Studies Association of the United Kingdom, and the inagural Director of the Academy of Geography, Sociology and International Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University. Prof Scully is an elected Academician of the UK Academy of Social Sciences; an elected Fellow (and former Council member) of the Learned Society of Wales; and a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society. He was also winner of the UK Political Studies Association&#8217;s Political Studies Communicator of the Year Award in 2017, and of the University Mentor of the Year at the UK National Mentoring Awards in 2019.
