Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong (YMCA) has started the \u201cWoodland YMCA\u201d China Desert Service Programme since 2009 in response to the promotion of sustainable development by student-led education projects. This year, YMCA is recruiting students who are concerned about critical global challenges, such as climate change, desertification and waste reduction, to join our programme. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in real-life service activities in the Tengger Desert, Ningxia, while also exchange stories about environmental sustainability with global volunteers throughout the camp. Below please find more details of the Programme:<\/p>

Programme Date: 22-28 July 2025<\/p>

Eligibility: Valid YMCA members aged 18-30<\/p>

Quota: 10<\/p>

Programme Language: Chinese<\/p>

Fee: HK$5,000 + Deposit $1,000 (Inc. air tickets, meals, accommodation, local transportation & programme fees, with YMCA Subsidy)<\/p>

Reminders:<\/p>

  1. Participants who attended all pre-trip meetings, the China Desert Service Trip, the post-trip activities and fulfilled the requirements of the YMCA’s “Be a Global Citizen” Campaign Gold Award with satisfactory performance will have their deposit fully refunded after the project.<\/li>
  2. Participants who won the YMCA “Be a Global Citizen” Campaign Gold Award will receive an extra subsidy of $1,000.\u00a0<\/li>
  3. Subsidies to Participants from the Chinese University of Hong Kong:<\/li><\/ol>
    • Applicable to CW Chu College Students: The programme fee is $4,000 which includes a subsidy from the College;<\/li>
    • Applicable to Chung Chi College Students: The programme fee is $5,000 which is subsidised by the College’s FLY Award. One quota for the student will be deducted.<\/li><\/ul>
