However, there are some exemptions for specified student interns and work experience students during a period of exempt student employment under the Minimum Wage Ordinance. If you are employed with remunerations below the minimum wage, your employer may ask you\/ the University for a Confirmation of \u201cStudent Interns\u201d or \u201cWork Experience Students\u201d status.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>For details of the definition and requirements of the exemptions, please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labour.gov.hk\/eng\/public\/pdf\/smw\/SMW_Notes_for_Students_Employees_and_Employers_eng.pdf\">Statutory Minimum Wage : Notes for Student Employees and Employers<\/a>\u00a0published by the Labour Department.<\/div><\/div><\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><h3 class=\"style2\"><strong>Confirm your student status for \u201cWork Experience Student\u201d<\/strong><\/h3><p>To confirm your student status for \u201cWork Experience Student\u201d, undergraduate students can submit the following documents by the <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/hkmu.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_1QYHJVgS5dWOncO\"><strong>[<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Online Form]<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> <strong>at soon as possible <\/strong>before the employment commences for review by Student Affairs office Career Services Team.<\/p><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.labour.gov.hk\/eng\/news\/pdf\/Letter_of_confirmation_work_experience_student.pdf\">Confirmation of student status for &#8220;work experience student&#8221; (Fillable PDF Form)<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.labour.gov.hk\/text_alternative\/pdf\/eng\/Letter_of_confirmation_work_experience_student.pdf\">Text Alternative<\/a>) (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.labour.gov.hk\/eng\/public\/note.htm\">PDF<\/a>)\u00a0under the Minimum Wage Ordinance (Cap. 608)\u00a0with the following details<br \/>&#8211; Academic Year (2021 &#8211; 2022)<br \/>&#8211; Full Name (same as HKID)<br \/>&#8211; HKID No.<br \/>&#8211; Programme Enrolled<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Copy of your Student ID<\/li><li>Copy of the employment contract\/ appointment email\/ reference with the following details<br \/>&#8211; Job Position<br \/>&#8211; Employment Period (with Start Date and End Date)<\/li><\/ul><p>Please be reminded that under the Ordinance, &#8220;work experience student&#8221; and his\/her employer may agree to treat a continuous period of\u00a0<strong>up to 59 days<\/strong> as exempt student employment, i.e. 59 days is the maximum day of exempt student employment and the statutory minimum wage ordinance applies from your 60th day of employment.<\/p><\/div><div id=\"ItemDtlDiv\"><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>If students are required to certify \u201c<strong>Student Interns<\/strong>\u201d status (normally for credit-bearing employment or practicum), please contact respective academic school office for details of arrangements.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>For more details about SMW, please go to the Labour Department's website [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.labour.gov.hk\/eng\/public\/content2_smw.htm\">LINK<\/a>].<\/div><\/div><p><!--<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>--> <!--<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>--><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minimum Wage OrdinanceThe Statutory Minimum Wage (SMW) has come into force since 1 May 2011.
