Keynote Speech

Mr. Alan CHEUNG, MH

Chairman & Managing Director of Grandion Group
Alan CHEUNG Yick-lun graduated from the University of Hong Kong and founded Grandion Industrial Ltd. (a member of Grandion Group) in 1996. Grandion is an apparel supply chain solution provider with production facilities located in China & Hong Kong.
He is appointed as the advisory board or vetting committee members in various Government Bureaus & Organisations in providing advices on Economic & trade development, Innovation & Technology, Vocational & Professional Education, Start-ups incubation, Social Enterprises, Social Innovation and Design Thinking application. He also acts as the mentors to support young designers & start-ups founders to develop their brands and businesses. Since 2018, he has been leading the company as an Impact Ventures Builder to co-create different purpose ventures with entrepreneurs which leverage social innovations to improve & tackle the social & industrial pain points.

Prof. Ricky KWOK

HKMU Vice President (Research & Student Development)
Prof. Kwok (Ricky) joined HKMU in February 2021 as the Vice President (Research and Student Development) and Chair Professor of Computer Engineering.
Ricky’s research focus has been on designing efficient communication protocols and robust resources management algorithms toward enabling large scale distributed mobile computing. In these research areas, he has authored one textbook, co-authored another two textbooks, and published more than 200 technical papers in various leading journals, research books, and refereed international conference proceedings. In a dataset from Stanford University updated annually since 2019, he is listed as one of the worldwide top 2% most influential researchers based on his contributions in the field of Networking and Telecommunications.

Mr. Ricky CHOI

Senior Manager – Smart Living, Cyberport
Ricky Choi is the Senior Manager to oversee the Smart Living Cluster & leading the youth development programmes at Cyberport and is responsible for promoting and driving Smart Living Cluster in particular EdTech, ArtTech, HealthTech & GeronTech, PropTech, GreenTech, Smart Mobility, RetailTech & FoodTech development across Hong Kong and the region, as well as building a future abundant with opportunities for the younger generations to innovate by partnering with industry partners, associations, and ecosystem stakeholders.
Mr. Choi has over 20 years’ experience in the Smart Living and Retail Technology industries, from facilitating start-ups launch and conquering the automation frontier for retail and foodservices businesses, to helping brands connect and engage with customers through technologies. Prior to joining Cyberport, Mr. Choi had held various senior positions in business development and operations management in Tech Start-ups, Smart Retail, FMCG, Food & Beverages, Wholesale & Distribution sectors. Mr. Choi has been active in public services related to education, industrial training and youth development.

Mr. Gilbert LEE

Principal Consultant at Education for Good 
Gilbert has practiced in the Marketing Research profession for over 30 years in HKG/China/globally covering a wide array of roles on the client-side and agency side, as a consultant, being the founder & board director for one of the largest marketing research organizations in China.
Professionally, Gilbert’s area of expertise lies on leveraging Design Thinking on product & service innovation. He advises multinational corporations entering China and Chinese companies going overseas markets, across a wide array of industries, e.g. food & beverages, personal care, finance, automotive, travel & hospitality. He used to work for Television Broadcasts Limited, Cathay Pacific Airways, Culturecom, South China Marketing Research and Kantar Insights China. As a seasoned corporate trainer & coach, Gilbert specializes in empowering key stakeholders and facilitating teams to build essential capabilities of Empathy, Creativity, Rationality & Ability to Collaborate to enable effective innovation in diverse cultural & organizational settings.

Mr. Timothy LEUNG

Executive Director, HKAI LAB
In the years as the Executive Director of the HKAI Lab, Timothy has supported and coached many startups in the journey to become a successful business, including areas in fundraising, product and business development, and team management. He leveraged his own experience as a startup co-founder and network in the startup ecosystem.
Timothy has accumulated over 20 years of experience in the Information and Internet field. He worked in esteemed companies such as Alibaba, Apple, and PCCW. He is now the Executive Director of the HKAI LAB, which is a not-for-profit initiative fully funded by the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund and SenseTime focused on advancing the frontiers of AI with cutting-edge technologies and expertise, and empowering startups to commercialize their new inventions.
Timothy is strong at business strategic planning and implementation. He had managed direct sales team and channel partners for technology products and internet services, such background equipped him with comprehensive experience in sales, marketing, product development and senior management. He had many successes in government and private sector partnership development and management.
Timothy’s 20+ years’ experience in the technology field covering Asia, Europe, and Americas. He directly managed staff and partners in Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey, USA, UK, Italy, Brazil and Peru.

Mr. Martin LAM

Young Alumni Entrepreneur, Business Management (class of 2019)
Martin actively led his team to participate in various start-up competitions during university life. He had created a mobile application named “Jobegin” that facilitated the matching process between high-quality casual workers and companies.
Since 2020, he has partnered with different educators to establish a center for special education needs called “Jumpy Education” in Tuen Mun, which covering an area of ​​8,000 square feet. Up to now, the service has been provided to more than 500 children with special education needs.
Since 2023, he has established the first film action stunt training hall in Hong Kong called “New Era Martial Club”, which is located in Quarry Bay. It mainly teaches film action stunts, such as stunts, somersault stunts, firearm actions, and martial arts courses.
