Student Affairs Office (SAO) has organized “Love for Paws – Volunteering at Dog Shelter Programme ” during February and March for students to help animals in shelters. Firstly, students have participated in the training workshop provided by Animal Assisted Therapist, which they learned and practiced how to get along with dogs. After that, they have also provided service for animals shelter and the shelter dogs inside, including cleaning, grooming etc.
During this Service-Learning programme, students not only experienced how to interact with dogs, but also gained a deeper understanding on the daily operation of animals shelter, which helped them to have a clear picture of animal service.
I learnt about working with others to finish our responsible tasks quickly. The service experience in animal shelter has made me more fond and motivated to continue helping and supporting animal shelters as the homeless dogs are greatly depend on the shelters.

My unforgettable moment was seeing the dogs who have been hurt or abandoned by human but still willing to trust and expect good things from human, which made me realize that we must treat them well and never abandon our pets.
