Who Should Apply?

  • Able to commit a significant amount of time throughout the programme duration and willing to undertake a year-long community project
  • Possess a strong enthusiasm in climate change, environmental and social justice issues
  • Have an interest in making a positive difference through campaigning and advocacy
  • Demonstrate a desire to participate in local or international climate actions or advocacy efforts
  • Commit to serving the HKMU / Hong Kong community, preferably with commendable experience in innovation or community service
  • Can commit to HKMU Youth Climate Advocacy Training Programme around 5 months in Hong Kong and work in groups on a year-long community-based advocacy project

Eligibility

  • Equipped with language, communication, problem-solving and leadership skills
  • Priority given to Hong Kong residents

Participation Fee

  • This training is free for all MU undergraduate students
  • Deposit of HK$500 is required for all successful applicants. The deposit will be returned after the completion of the programme
  • Certificate of participation will be awarded to participants who fulfill an 80% attendance rate for all modules

 

Application Procedure

  • Fill up the Qualtrics form
  • Inside the application form, you have to submit a 600 -word personal statement in English OR Chinese, introducing yourself, explaining the reasons why you want to join our programme, and sharing your perspective on climate advocacy, and;
  • Submit an 800 – 2,000 -word essay in English on one of the following topics:
    1. To what extent has the adaptation plan of Hong Kong effectively addressed the challenges posed by climate change? Discuss and evaluate the plan’s effectiveness in building resilience among vulnerable communities in Hong Kong
    2. Please select one specific climate justice issue that is relevant to either Hong Kong or the international community. Once you have chosen the issue, kindly outline the problems associated with it, identify the impacted groups of people, propose potential solutions, and explain the importance of climate justice in addressing this particular issue.
    3. A proposal for a climate advocacy campaign in Hong Kong / HKMU
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview within February 2025. All late submissions of application or required documents will not be considered
