With massive investments and rapid innovation, China aims to narrow the AI gap with the US while advocating for collaborative oversight to ensure AI benefits humanity. <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2025\/07\/28\/tech\/china-global-ai-cooperation-organization-waic-hnk-spc\">CNN<\/a><\/li><li>Google is launching an optional AI Mode in the UK, providing conversational answers with fewer links, altering traditional search results. While aimed at improving user queries, this shift raises concerns among businesses and news outlets about reduced web traffic and advertising revenue, impacting their models. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/clyj4zky4zwo\">BBC<\/a><\/li><li>At least six funded universities have emphasised AI development in their latest agreements with the UGC. HKU aims to transform through AI, while CUHK's 2026\u20132030 strategy focuses on leading AI research, integrating AI in teaching, and addressing ethical issues, with new AI institutes and programmes established.
