User Guide
This guide outlines how to install uTools, search for applications, manage plugins, and utilise the OCR and screen recording features. (Reference Version: 7.2.1)
Download and Install uTools
| a. | Navigate to the website: https://www.u-tools.cn/download/; |
| b. | Select the installer version that matches your operating system; |
| c. | Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation; |
| d. | Launch the uTools software. |
Perform Quick Application Search
| a. | Press Alt + Space (default shortcut) to open the uTools launcher; |
| b. | Type a keyword such as "Clipboard", "OCR", or "ScreenRec" to search available tools; |
| c. | Click the desired tool to open it directly. |
Install Plugins from marketplace
| a. | Press Alt + Space to open the uTools launcher; |
| b. | Click the uTools logo in the top-right corner; |
| c. | Select Plugin Management to open the plugin marketplace; |
| d. | Search for the OCR 文字識別 (OCR Text Recognition) and 錄屏 & 視頻處理 (Screen Recording & Video Processing) plugins in the Search bar; |
| e. | Click 獲取 (Install) next to your desired plugin; |
| f. | Click Open to launch the plugin interface. |
Recognise Text via OCR
| a. | Click to launch the OCR 文字識別 (OCR Text Recognition) plugin; |
| b. | Click to select a recognition mode from the top: 文字識別 (Text Recognition), 表格識別 (Table Recognition), or 公式識別 (Formula Recognition); |
| c. | Click 螢幕截圖 (Screenshot) or 選擇圖片 (Select Image) to upload content; |
| d. | Click 複製結果 (Copy Result) to copy the extracted text or click 翻譯 (Translate) to translate it for text recognition; |
| e. | Click 複製 Markdown (Copy Markdown), 複製表格 (Copy Table), or 匯出 Excel (Export Excel) to save the output for table recognition; |
| f. | Click 複製 LaTeX (Copy LaTeX) or 匯出圖片 (Export Image) to save the output for formula recognition. |
Record and Process Screens
| a. | Launch the ScreenRec plugin from the uTools launcher; |
| b. | Click the take a screenshot button in the pop-up panel and select an area on the screen; |
| c. | Use the annotation panel to add comments, shapes, and text; |
| d. | Use the button panel to create a shareable link, copy, download, or delete the image; |
| e. | Click start recording in the ScreenRec panel and select an area on the screen to begin recording; |
| f. | Click the stop button to end the recording (Note: There is a 5-minute time limit); |
| g. | Use the button panel to create a shareable link, download, or delete the video; |
| h. | Click view all screen captures in the ScreenRec panel to view your history. |
