Collaboration with Hospital Authority in Simulation-based Resuscitation Training

As the first University of Applied Sciences in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Metropolitan University has always placed great emphasis on the integration of theories and practical skills.
 
Resuscitation is an essential skill for nurses. To enhance students’ skills and knowledge in resuscitation, the School of Nursing and Health Studies recently co-hosted a three-day simulated resuscitation training in collaboration with Hospital Authority.

Aromatherapy Workshop for Nursing Students

Aromatherapy is a natural therapy that has gained popularity in recent years. It involves the use of the essence extracted from plants to condition body, mind, and spirit. An aromatherapy workshop was organised in late March for our nursing students who are about to take examinations, to relieve their stress and promote mental health and wellness.

Experiential Learning on Disaster Management

We have invited Auxiliary Medical Service (AMS) for sharing with our students related to disaster management, and the emergency nursing skills required in responding to a disaster. During the experiential learning session, students are invited to visit AMS’s ambulance. They learn about patient transfer from an accident scene to a hospital, the use of LUCAS device for chest compression, as well as the role of the motorbike rescue team in emergency cases and disasters.

School of Nursing and Health Studies x LINK Sustainability Lab

The Department of Physiotherapy of the School of Nursing and Health Studies, HKMU and HKMU Physiotherapy Centre, in collaboration with LINK, have conducted a series of workshops about ageing simulation and community health at LINK’s Sustainability Lab in Lok Fu Place since January 2024. A workshop about “Healthy Community: Women’s Health and Physiotherapy,” was held on 23 February 2024. The workshop addressed common physiological and psychological conditions experienced by middle-aged women and provided a simple exercise routine to facilitate their adaptation to age-related changes in body and mind.
