OUHK receives $10 million donation from Agile Group to support new campus development 2/11/2017

In recognition of Agile's generosity, OUHK has named the Multi-purpose Hall of its Jockey Club Campus as "Agile Sports Hall”.	The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) has received a gift of HK$10 million from Agile Group Holdings Limited (Agile) to support its new campus development project on Sheung Shing Street in Ho Man Tin. The new campus building will become home to the future OUHK Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare. In recognition of the Agile’s generosity, the Multi-purpose Hall of the OUHK's Jockey Club Campus is named the "Agile Sports Hall". The Naming Ceremony was held today (2 November) at the OUHK Jockey Club Campus. Officiated at the ceremony were Mr Chen Zhuo Lin, Chairman and President of Agile Group Holdings Limited; Madam Luk Sin Fong, Fion, Vice Chairperson of Agile Group Holdings Limited; Mr Michael Wong Yick-kam, Chairman of the OUHK Council; Mr Silas Yang Siu-shun, Deputy Chairman of the OUHK Council, and Prof. Yuk-Shan Wong, President of the OUHK. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Michael Wong Yick-kam, expressed his sincere gratitude to Agile for its generous contribution which has helped enrich the University’s development fund and provided the much-needed resources to expand and improve its campus facilities. Mr Wong said, "Adhering to the philosophy of 'benefiting from society, giving back to society', Agile has been actively involved in charity and community services, especially in education. The donation received will be used to finance the construction of the new OUHK campus on Sheung Shing Street. This will become the new Institute of Healthcare, which will be home to a suite of nursing and healthcare-related programmes. It aims to offer better training and education for future healthcare professionals to cater to the needs and challenges brought by an ageing population." Mr Wong added that he would like to take this opportunity to thank Agile for its recognition and staunch support for the OUHK. He hoped that in the future the University could join hands with Agile to nurture more talents to meet Hong Kong's social and economic needs. Mr Chen Zhuo Lin said, "Education is crucial to a society's development. Therefore we spare no effort in supporting education and research initiatives to help promote social development in Hong Kong and Mainland China. We are delighted to support the OUHK’s new initiative to establish an Institute of Healthcare, and to take part in this meaningful endeavour to contribute to a healthier and better Hong Kong." With a total area of about 588 square meters and outfitted with sports facilities, the Agile Sports Hall is an ideal venue for holding exhibitions, sports events, performances and discussion forums as well as for hosting various extracurricular activities and functions of student organizations. This is one of the largest facilities at the OUHK Jockey Club Campus and is also one with the highest usage throughout the year.
