Nurturing Molecular Testing Professionals in HK<\/strong><\/p>

(29 April, 2024, Hong Kong) In response to the \u201cHong Kong Blueprint for Innovation and Technology Development\u201d announced by the Hong Kong SAR government in late 2022, Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education of Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU LiPACE) has launched a two-year full-time programme, the Higher Diploma in Health and Molecular Testing, to provide necessary knowledge and skills to students looking for a career in the life and health science industry.<\/p>

HKMU LiPACE’s <\/strong>Higher Diploma in Health and Molecular Testing<\/strong><\/a><\/p>

HKMU LiPACE’s Higher Diploma in Health and Molecular Testing covers fundamental medical theoretical knowledge such as chemistry, diagnostic science, biology, physiology, and pharmacology, with a strong emphasis on practical experience. HKMU LiPACE has collaborated with renowned testing and certification companies such as BGI (Beijing Genomics Institute), Grant Technology, Intertek Testing Services HK Ltd., and SGS Hong Kong to provide practicum opportunities. Students are required to complete a minimum of 100 hours of internship at laboratories in Hong Kong, receiving professional training in molecular diagnostics skills (such as PCR, ELISA, Next-Generation Sequencing). They will also gain knowledge of advanced equipment and instruments used in the industry and develop an understanding of practical work regulations to prepare them for future careers in relevant industries.<\/p>

Multiple Pathways for Further Education and Employment<\/strong><\/p>

Graduates of Higher Diploma in Health and Molecular Testing have a wide range of career opportunities. They can pursue roles such as product sales representatives or technical support personnel in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and diagnostic product industries. They can also work in diagnostic, testing, and certification laboratories, universities, and research institutions. In terms of further education, graduates have the opportunities to pursue relevant bachelor’s degree programs in life sciences, testing and certification, and natural sciences at local universities. Additionally, they may transfer credits or receive exemptions to continue their studies in the Bachelor of Biomedical Science program at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia and the Bachelor of Biotechnology program at Clark University in the United States.<\/p>

Entrance and Progression Scholarships<\/strong><\/p>

New students who meet specific requirements based on their HKDSE results will be granted an Entrance Scholarship of HKD $20,000. Furthermore, students who achieve a designated cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in their first year of study will be awarded a Progression Scholarship of HKD $20,000. The program is also eligible for reimbursement under the Continuing Education Fund (CEF).<\/p>

Dr. U Kin-Pong, the program leader of Higher Diploma in Health and Molecular Testing, stated, “The life and health sciences industry plays a crucial role in the city’s economic development and the well-being of its citizens. Students who are interested in entering this thriving industry should be well-equipped themselves properly.”<\/p>

\u9999\u6e2f\u90fd\u6703\u5927\u5b78\u674e\u5609\u8aa0\u5c08\u696d\u9032\u4fee\u5b78\u9662 (\u90fd\u5927LiPACE) \u914d\u5408\u9999\u6e2f\u7279\u5340\u653f\u5e9c2022\u5e74\u5e95\u516c\u5e03\u7684\u300a\u9999\u6e2f\u5275\u65b0\u79d1\u6280\u767c\u5c55\u85cd\u5716\u300b\uff0c\u958b\u8fa62\u5e74\u5168\u65e5\u5236\u5065\u5eb7\u53ca\u5206\u5b50\u6aa2\u6e2c\u9ad8\u7d1a\u6587\u6191\u8ab2\u7a0b<\/a>\uff0c\u70ba\u6709\u610f\u6295\u8eab\u751f\u547d\u5065\u5eb7\u79d1\u6280\u884c\u696d\u7684\u540c\u5b78\u63d0\u4f9b\u5fc5\u8981\u7684\u77e5\u8b58\u53ca\u6280\u8853\u3002<\/p>

LiPACE\u5065\u5eb7\u53ca\u5206\u5b50\u6aa2\u6e2c\u9ad8\u7d1a\u6587\u6191\u8ab2\u7a0b\uff0c\u5167\u5bb9\u9664\u5316\u5b78\u3001\u8a3a\u65b7\u79d1\u5b78\u3001\u751f\u7269\u5b78\u3001\u751f\u7406\u5b78\u3001\u85e5\u7406\u5b78\u7b49\u57fa\u790e\u91ab\u7642\u7406\u8ad6\u5916\uff0c\u9084\u7279\u5225\u8457\u91cd\u5be6\u8e10\u5b78\u7fd2\uff0c LiPACE\u8207BGI (\u83ef\u5927\u57fa\u56e0) \u3001Grant Technology\u3001Intertek Testing Services HK Ltd.\u53caSGS Hong Kong\u7b49\u77e5\u540d\u7684\u6aa2\u6e2c\u53ca\u8a8d\u8b49\u516c\u53f8\u5408\u4f5c\uff0c\u5b78\u751f\u9700\u5230\u9999\u6e2f\u5be6\u9a57\u5ba4\u5b8c\u6210\u6700\u5c11100\u5c0f\u6642\u7684\u5be6\u7fd2\u6642\u6578\uff0c\u63a5\u53d7\u5206\u5b50\u6aa2\u6e2c\u6280\u80fd (\u5982PCR\u3001ELISA\u3001Next-Generation Sequencing) \u5c08\u696d\u57f9\u8a13\uff0c\u4e86\u89e3\u696d\u754c\u5148\u9032\u7684\u8a2d\u5099\u5100\u5668\u53ca\u5be6\u969b\u5de5\u4f5c\u898f\u7bc4\uff0c\u70ba\u672a\u4f86\u6295\u8eab\u76f8\u95dc\u884c\u696d\u4f5c\u597d\u9810\u5099\u3002<\/p>

\u591a\u5143\u5316\u7684\u5347\u5b78\u5c31\u696d\u8def\u5f91<\/strong><\/p>

DSE\u5b78\u751f\u5831\u8b80\u5065\u5eb7\u53ca\u5206\u5b50\u6aa2\u6e2c\u9ad8\u7d1a\u6587\u6191\u8ab2\u7a0b\uff0c\u5982\u7b26\u5408\u6307\u5b9a\u6210\u7e3e\u8981\u6c42\u53ef\u7372\u9812\u5165\u5b78\u734e\u5b78\u91d1$20,000\u5143\uff1b\u5165\u8b80\u5f8c\u9996\u5b78\u5e74\u53d6\u5f97\u6307\u5b9a\u7684\u7d2f\u8a08\u5e73\u5747\u7a4d\u9ede (CGPA) \u66f4\u53ef\u7372\u9812\u6649\u7d1a\u734e\u5b78\u91d1$20,000\u5143\u3002\u8ab2\u7a0b\u4ea6\u5df2\u52a0\u5165\u6301\u7e8c\u9032\u4fee\u57fa\u91d1(CEF)\u53ef\u7372\u767c\u9084\u6b3e\u9805\u8ab2\u7a0b\u540d\u55ae\u3002<\/p>
