The\u00a0database<\/a>\u00a0provides full-text access to more than 20,000 Chinese periodicals published between 1911 and 1949. Together with The Late Qing Full-text Database (1833-1911) on the same platform, it provides a full picture of modern China via the periodicals published over a period of a century.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Shen Bao<\/a>\u00a0covers 77 years of the newspaper issues from 1872 to 1949 published in Shanghai, China. It provides the primary source of information of this period. It is an important and historical Chinese newspaper in Far East between the periods of the late 19th century and mid-20th century.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The\u00a0digital archive<\/a>, containing approximately 400,000 pages of snapshots and with the prime source from the British Colonial Office records grouped under the CO 129 Series titled \u201cWar and Colonial Department and Colonial Office: Hong Kong, Original Correspondence\u201d, presents a collection of British government documents and correspondence on colonial Hong Kong in the 19th\u00a0and 20th\u00a0centuries. These documents are offered digitally for the first time with detailed and valuable information on a wide range of topics covering the political, military, social, economic and external development of Hong Kong, the British Empire in Asia, China's transformation from empire to republic, mainland China-Hong Kong relations, and the international politics of East Asia.<\/div>

Users can use the archive on its own or cross-search with other Gale collections. Another notable enhancement is our collections' significant increase on both English and Chinese e-books in the past few months. The Library has reviewed and adopted various new acquisition models from different e-book vendors and publishers, like Cambridge University Press, Emerald, JSTOR, SAGE, Springer. Adopting these new acquisitions, we are not only talking about increasing the volumes of e-books available for your study, reference and leisure reading, but also broadening in subject varieties and boosting in having more high quality publications from big publishers for your choice.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

From these new additions, over 30,000 are Chinese e-books with diverse interests ranging from leisure reading to academic reference, dictionaries and encyclopedias.<\/div>

For English e-books, over 80,000 titles on a broad range of subjects have been added to our Collection for your access, plus over 5,000 titles on the subjects of business, management, economics, finance, education and computer science with unlimited concurrent access.<\/div>
