About Data Backup and Recovery<\/h2>\n\n

Data backup is important to ensure and minimize the lost during system or data crashes. Currently, HKMU \u201cVirtual Server Farm<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cSAN Data Storage<\/strong>\u201d are arranged with the data backup on tapes for system disaster recovery.\u00a0For a VM in SAN storage system, daily snapshot backup will be provided and it will be kept for 7 days. Weekly backup and monthly backup are done on tapes. Weekly backup will be kept for 3 weeks and all tape backups are for system disaster recovery.\u00a0For a VM not in SAN storage system, a weekly backup to tapes will be arranged.\u00a0Subject to the nature and the special requirement of an application, some systems like Staff Exchange email system and SharePoint system etc., specific application aware backup software and setup for backup and recovery are required.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n
