Call For Papers

The 28th International Conference on Yue Dialects will be held at Hong Kong Metropolitan University on December 13-14, 2024. We cordially invite regional and international scholars and students to share their works in all areas of linguistics related to Cantonese and other Yue dialects. The theme of this year's conference is “Multilingualism”. Details of the conference are as follows.

1) Each presentation will be 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of discussion.
2) Abstracts can be written in English or Chinese. Each abstract is limited to one single-spaced A4 page, including examples and (selected) references, with 1-inch margins all around. For English abstracts, please use New Times Roman 12pt. For Chinese abstracts, please use SimSun 12pt.
3) Abstracts must be submitted in two versions: (a) anonymous and (b) with author(s)' name(s) and affiliation(s), both in MS Word AND PDF formats. The filenames of all four files should be the paper title.
4) Abstracts must be submitted electronically to the Organizing Committee by email at yue28@hkmu.edu.hk. Please title the subject of your email with “ABSTRACT-YUE28”.
5) When submitting your abstract, apart from the abstract, please complete the form here and fill in the following information: (1) name(s) of the author(s); (2) affiliation(s); (3) title of your paper; (4) correspondence address; and (5) email address(es) for contact.
6) We will accept at most one single-authored AND one joint-authored work by an individual.
7) All abstracts will be reviewed anonymously. Only accepted abstracts are eligible for presentation.

2 July, 2024 (Tuesday)

Notice of Acceptance:

Middle of August 2024

Selected papers will appear in a special issue of CURRENT RESEARCH IN CHINESE LINGUISTICS (ISSN 1726- 9245), published by T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre of the Institute of Chinese Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Submitted papers will be subject to review, with the final decision of acceptance made according to the quality of the papers and by the decision of the Editorial Board. Papers related to the conference's theme will be prioritized for publication consideration.
