My experience in the English double degree program at HKMU has been transformative, deepening my understanding of the English language and effective teaching methods.\n\n

A key highlight was the 22-week teaching practicum in primary and secondary school This hands-on experience allowed me to apply what I learned at HKMU and gain valuable insights from experienced teachers.\n\n

Additionally, participating in the exchange program at the University of Warwick in the UK enriched my education. Collaborating with international peers exposed me to new teaching practices and broadened my perspective on English education.\n\n

Truly grateful to the dedicated faculty at HKMU for their support throughout my journey. Looking forward to using these experiences to inspire my future students!

Studying in the double degree is truly a fruitful and meaningful experience for me. The best part of my 4-year study was the two teaching practicums in both a primary and secondary school. On one hand, I was able to apply knowledge learned in the classroom to actual practices. On the other hand, I was able to gain substantial experience by engaging in countless teaching and non-teaching duties. Having such experience has made the transition in becoming an English language teacher smoother.\n\n

I have no regrets taking the double degree programme at HKMU. The programme not only gave me opportunities to develop into a proficient and well-rounded teacher, but also helped me grow as an individual. Extremely grateful for the professors for their dedication and passion in making my journey a purposeful and rewarding one!\n\n

Studying the English double degree programme at HKMU has truly been a transformative experience, allowing me to delve deeper into the nuances of English language and art of teaching.\n\n

The 22-week teaching practicum including 16 weeks in primary school and 6 weeks in secondary school was undoubtedly the highlight of my 4-year experience, providing me with opportunity to hone my pedagogical abilities and gain deeper understanding of the realities of teaching, not to mention the invaluable experience gained from veteran educators.\n\n

I am truly grateful to all the professional and dedicated HKMU teaching staff for guiding and supporting us throughout this journey.\n\n

Linguistic and education courses aside, the best part of our double degree programme is the 22-week practicum. I worked for 16 weeks in a primary school and six weeks in a secondary school. Staying for 16 weeks in the same school has allowed me to truly experience the duties of a teacher. With such experience, I could pick up the teaching duties right away when I start working as an English teacher.\n\n

No regret at all taking the BEd (Hons) in English Language Teaching and BEngLang (Hons) programme at HKMU. Three cheers to the professional and devoted teaching staff here as well!\n\n

Courses related to educational psychology and Information Technology in learning and teaching have equipped me with adequate skills and theories to gain better understanding of the students and tackle with difficulties.\n\n

Teaching practicums in both primary and secondary schools, lasting for 22 weeks in total, have given me chances to support students with Special Educational Needs and worked in a team of teachers to meet tight marking deadlines efficiently, not to mention the techniques of making various eye-catching teaching aids and e-learning materials to facilitate learning.\n\n

The programme has afforded me plenty opportunities to enhance my English proficiency and become a more competent teacher!\n\n

More often than not, whenever I reminisce about my stay at the Open University of Hong Kong (now HKMU), I can't help but smile. One reason I smile is because I was nurtured well by my hard-working and dedicated lecturers and tutors who, at their utmost best, patiently answered however mediocre my questions might be. I was challenged to think critically, a skill that I see indispensable in my line of work. Also, I consider myself a successful teacher because of the guidance and care from these devoted individuals. \n

Another reason I smile whenever I look back at my days here are the people I met in my classes. In spite of our differences, we learned to accept and appreciate each other's differences. I have learned a plethora of life skills based on their experiences and without their life stories, I wouldn't be as sensitive or aware about the world of work. \n

Finally, I smile because I graduated from a university that shaped me and led me to where I am now. I was well-equipped to take on my calling as an English teacher. It all turned out fine for me.\n\n\n
