Study and Immersion Programmes

School of Education and Languages Programmes & Courses Undergraduate (Full-time) Bachelor of English Language Studies with Honours Study and Immersion Programmes

Students will have the chance to participate in a wide range of study and immersion programmes at E&L.

Financial support from the School will be provided. The amount of support each participant will receive depends on the fund available and the size of participants in that particular year.

Students may also apply for other scholarships, such as Reaching Out Award by Education Bureau (EDB) and Scheme for Subsidy on Exchange by Student Affairs Office (SAO).

Past participation in study and immersion programmes

Japanese Cultural Immersion Programme

📍 Tokyo

  • Attended Japanese language classes at Toyo University and explored the local education system
  • Stayed with host families in small groups, enjoying shared meals and hands-on farming activities for an authentic cultural exchange
  • Visited historic sites in Tokyo and participated in traditional workshops, including tea ceremony, Kendo, and Japanese paper-making

English Language and Culture Immersion Programme

📍 Warwick

  • Strengthened academic and general English skills through interactive sessions and intercultural communication organised by the University of Warwick
  • Visited iconic destinations and London, supported by integrated skills lessons for trip planning and research
  • Conducted and presented a project comparing British and home cultures through posters and multi-modal presentations

UBC Vancouver Summer Programme

📍 Vancouver

  • Students are expected to apply to the programme by themselves and make their own travel arrangements (i.e. not an E&L-led tour)
  • Student needs to submit the E&L application form by the stipulated deadline for the allocation of funding offered by the University and the School
