LC Orientation 2024

Since the semester is beginning, we would like to take a moment to wish you a successful year and tell you how we can help.

Feeling anxious about the challenges of learning English in your new academic environment? Whether it is writing academic essays, giving presentations, or aiming for higher IELTS scores, you are not alone in your concerns.

The HKMU Language Centre is here to support you through these new challenges. 

The Language Centre engage students through the following services:

• One-to-one English learning sessions
• Reading, writing, and speaking workshops
• Small English discussion groups
• IELTS training workshops and training session
• Language games and fun activities, e.g. Board Game Day, Movie Day, Book Club
• Foreign language classes, e.g. Online French, Korean, Putonghua, Japanese and Cantonese Classes
• Online resources and more

We invite you to our Orientation Programme 2024, which will be held from Sep 10 to Sep 13. There are 4 sessions in total, and all of the sessions are face-to-face (F2F). The content of each session repeats, so you might only need to join one.

During this orientation, we will provide a detailed overview of our current services. The sessions will be conducted by two English advisors from the Language Centre: Ms. Jessica Lam and Ms. Jenny Wong.

Additionally, there will be a session that the Library staff will explain their services and guide you on a tour of the Library. This will help you become familiar with useful tools available at the Library to support your studies. You are encouraged to engage with the staff and ask questions during the orientation.

Please check the timetable below and select the time slot(s) that you are available to attend. Once your registration is confirmed, you will receive an email with all the details.

Please note that:

• Face-to-face sessions will be held at Active Learning Space (ALS), Stanley Ho library. You will need to visit the venue to physically attend the session. You will receive the directions to the venue in your confirmation email. 
• The content of each session is the same, so you may only need to join one.
