 New & Cancellation of Databases in the Electronic Library (2021) 24-DEC-20

In consultation with the Schools, the Library has conducted an annual review on database subscriptions for 2021. Changes on subscribed databases are listed below.

  New subscription
From now on, the following databases will be available for access in the Electronic Library.
  1. AccessPhysiotherapy (Provider: McGraw Hill)
This online physiotherapy resource provides leading physical therapy textbooks, procedure and exercise videos, image galleries, self-assessment tools, a cadaver dissection tool, NPTE review and much more.
  2. Education source (Provider: EBSCO)
This resource is an upgrade from Education Research Complete. It provides indexing and abstracts for more than 2,850 academic periodicals and includes full text for more than 1,800 journals, 550 books and monographs, education-related conference papers, citations for over 4 million articles including book reviews and over 100,000 controlled and cross-referenced names of educational tests. Coverage in Education Source spans all levels of education from early childhood to higher education and also includes educational specialties such as multilingual education, health education and testing.
  3. F.A. Davis PT collection (Provider: McGraw Hill)
This database provides resources for physical therapy education. It covers physical therapy references, including Dutton’s Orthopaedic Examination, Evaluation, and Intervention and O’Sullivan and Physical Rehabilitation, which are fully searchable and continuously updated. It also consists PT cases for users to learn in the context of real patients by applying the PT principles to real-life situations. It also provides access to videos on exercise and rehabilitation techniques, kinetics, and physical therapy interventions.
  4. Grant's dissection videos (Provider: Wolters Kluwer)
This collection of approximately 80 high-resolution videos, totaling more than 13 hours, demonstrate the Grant's method of cadaver dissection sequences, as described in Grant’s Dissector. Organized by body region, each video includes narration by Dr. Alan Detton and on-screen labeling and text. The videos show students what they are expected to achieve in lab, the steps required for each dissection, and the information they need to learn for practical exams.
  5. Kono Libraries (Provider: Kono Digital Inc.)
Kono 電子雜誌平台提供逾200本來自香港、台灣、日本、韓國及歐美等地出版的雜誌供讀者線上或線下閱讀。讀者亦可下載App版本使用此資源。
  6. STATdx (Provider: Elsevier)
This database is a diagnostic decision support system for radiologists and gives users instant access to collective clinical experience and knowledge of renowned sub-specialists in every field of radiology. It provides over 4,700 diagnoses, 200,000 searchable images, approximately 1,400 differential diagnosis modules, over 300 anatomy modules, 20,000 patient cases and about 200 simple and interventional procedures.
  7. The Financial Times (Provider: The Financial Times Ltd.)
The Financial Times is one of the world’s leading business news organizations. It provides a broad range of information, news and services for the global business community. Users can access to digital articles from 2004 onwards. Besides, access to ePaper, which is the digital replica of the daily print edition, is also available.
  8. 萬方視頻 Wanfang (Provider: Wanfang)
萬方視頻(Wanfang)收錄與科技、教育及文化學科相關的學術視頻。圖書館訂購部份鳳凰衛視的視頻,內容覆蓋中國文化、歷史與文學。鳳凰衛視系列視頻只提供普通話版本配以繁體中文字幕。圖書館同時訂購部份TMW Media系列關於生涯教育的學術視頻。TMW Media視頻只提供英語版本.

To access the databases, type in the database name in LibSearch, then click "Online access".

Effective from 1 January 2021, the following databases will no longer be available from the Electronic Library.
  1. Agricultural & environmental science collection (Provider: ProQuest)
  2. Education research complete (Provider: EBSCO)
  3. English translation database (Provider: 北京大學法制信息中心)
  4. Routledge encyclopedia of modernism (Provider: Routledge)
