This conference aims to examine the inheritance, evolution, and innovative transformation of Chinese mythology in the digital age. Propelled by digital media, Chinese mythology is thriving in unprecedented ways, highlighting its profound cultural significance and distinctive aesthetic values. It has captivated global audiences and revealed immense potential for fostering cross-cultural communication.<\/p>

    From August 1 to August 2, 2025, the Research Institute for Digital Culture and Humanities (RIDCH) organized a two-day International Conference on Chinese Mythology in the Digital Age. This conference was part of the research project \u201cChinese Mythology in the Digital Age,\u201d funded by Sin Wai Kin Foundation Limited. With the global proliferation of digital media and technology in recent years, Chinese mythology has experienced a vibrant resurgence in ways that were unimaginable just a few decades ago. This resurgence has been further propelled by advancements such as the emergence of generative AI, which has opened up new possibilities for reimagining and sharing these timeless stories.\u00a0<\/p>

    The conference provided a unique platform to examine the inheritance, evolution, and innovative transformation of Chinese mythology within the context of the digital era. The event was privileged to host an exceptional lineup of distinguished scholars from mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Canada, and the United States, alongside esteemed local academics from Hong Kong and colleagues from HKMU. The conference showcased cutting-edge research across diverse fields, including visual arts, science fiction, online literature, game studies, and anthropology. The collective expertise and diverse perspectives undoubtedly enriched our understanding of how Chinese mythology is thriving across contemporary platforms including digital storytelling, gaming, social media, and digital archives.\u00a0<\/p>

    Through engaging scholarly discussions, the conference explored the profound cultural significance and distinctive aesthetic values of Chinese mythology. Various panels also examined how the narratives and symbols of Chinese mythology have transcended geographical and cultural boundaries, resonating with global audiences and fostering meaningful cross-cultural dialogue.\u00a0<\/p>
