At the start of an eventful year, the former Open University of Hong Kong was officially renamed as Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU), kicking off a new era of exciting growth and innovation. A new School of Open Learning was established on the same day, reflecting the University's ongoing commitment to its time-honoured role of providing open education. In recognition of its expanding commitment to community, HKMU also launched a new series of its television programme Knowledge for All<\/em>, hosted on TVB Pearl, and a new public lecture series for all called Talk of the Metropolis.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

HKMU launched its academic year with a new Learning and Teaching Week for staff and students before the first semester got formally underway.
