Learning and Teaching Week 2022 (15\u201327 August) <\/span><\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Learning and Teaching Week 2022 will be held between 15 and 27 August 2022. This two-week event aims to provide an opportunity for inspiration and reflection among teaching staff, and equip them with up-to-date professional knowledge and skills. The theme of this year's event is 'Making your teaching more engaging'.<\/p>

Experienced academic speakers from local and overseas universities have been invited to share their expertise in various popular topics, such as career readiness, growth mindset, feedback Literacy, AI as a pedagogical tool, helping students with SEN, online exam proctoring technologies, and the use of educational technology for student engagement.<\/p>

A series of lightning sessions on study skills, including time management, presentation and academic integrity will be conducted to prepare students for the new academic year.<\/p>

The Opening Ceremony will begin with our President, Provost, and Vice President (Resources and Development) each providing colleagues with details of HKMU's academic reform and strategic campus development, followed by a Round Table Discussion by the Vice President (Student and Support) and Learning and Teaching Evangelists (LTEs). The second part will comprise sharing sessions by academic speakers from local universities on career readiness, AI as a pedagogical tool, and feedback literacy.<\/p>

On the second day, Zoom webinars will be conducted by academic speakers from universities in Australia, Japan, Singapore, the UK and the USA. The speakers will share their down-to-earth experience in student engagement, technology in health professions education, team-based learning (TBL), online exam proctoring technologies, pedagogical developments in post-COVID higher education and the future of open learning.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

On the Student Orientation Days, our Instructional Designers will conduct lightning sessions on study skills, including time management, presentation and academic integrity to prepare students for a great start to the new academic year.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t(22\u201323 August) Induction Day and professional development seminars for new teaching staff<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t

On the Induction Day, there will be seminars highlighting HKMU's quality assurance framework, outcome-based learning approach, assessment strategies and student profiles. There will also be demonstrations of the OLE and AV teaching equipment in classrooms and laboratories.<\/p>

On the following day, professional development seminars will be held for new teaching staff in their early career. Topics include tips and tricks from our Learning and Teaching Evangelists, lesson planning, teaching strategies, teaching with digital tools and the use of copyright materials. Existing teaching staff are welcome to join.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

There will be workshops on flipping the classroom. An educational psychologist has also been invited to conduct a workshop on handling SEN students.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The seminars will primarily cater for PT-DL tutors, providing tips for lecturing and leading tutorial sessions, and Online Teaching Strategies and Skills (OTSS).
