These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Undergraduate Degrees.

In these regulations definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Undergraduate Degrees and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.

Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Economics with Finance (BSSCHEF)
1.	To be eligible for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Economics (with Finance), a student shall:
	a)	comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
	b)	comply with the Regulations for the Award of Undergraduate Degrees; and
	c)	obtain at least 160 credits* of which no more than 40 credits shall be obtained at Foundation level; and
	d)	obtain at least 40 credits in courses at Higher level; and
	e)	successfully complete the prescribed programme of studies.

	*	Of the 160 credits required for the attainment of the degree, students can complete up to 50 credits of courses in a language of instruction other than English.
2	For the degree of Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Economics (with Finance) the University has prescribed that a student must:
	a)	successfully complete 60 credits of compulsory core courses labelled SCH in Table 1, i.e.
		(i)	10 credits from MATH S112/MATH S122;
			or 10 credits from BUS B170 or BUS B273;
			or 10 credits from both BUS B171 and BUS B172/BUS B272; and
		(ii)	5 credits from IT L150/IT E150 or BIS B121/BIS B123; and
		(iii)	5 credits from ENGL A100/ENGL A101 or BUS B100; and
		(iv)	10 credits from ECON A230/ECON A230C; and
			OR
			10 credits from both ECON A231/ECON A231C and ECON A232/ECON A232C; and
		(v)	10 credits from MATH S242/STAT S242; and
		(vi)	10 credits from ECON A301 or 10 credits from both ECON A311 and ECON A312; and
		(vii)	10 credits from ECON A302 or 10 credits from both ECON A313 and ECON A314; and
	b)	successfully complete 60 credits from courses labelled SFH, SMH or SHH in Table 1, of which at least 20 credits must be gained at Higher level (labelled SHH) ^a,b,c, and
	c)	successfully complete 20 credits from ACT B210 or ACT B211 and ACT B212, FIN B280 and FIN B386 ^d; and
	d)	successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled FHH in Table 1 or FIN B380/FIN B388 and FIN B389.
	a:	Students who have successfully completed SOCI A202 or HIST A202 before the April 2001 presentation will be deemed to have satisfied the requirement of a 10-credit Middle level course labelled SMH.
	b:	Students who have successfully completed ECON A306 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirement of ECON A203 or a 10-credit Higher level course labelled SHH.
	c:	Students who have successfully completed ECON A320C or ECON A320 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirement of ECON A202C or a 10-credit Higher level course labelled SHH.
	d:	Students who have successfully completed FIN B382/FIN B400 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirement of FIN B280 and FIN B386.

3.	Each degree with Honours shall be conferred with a classification of First Class, Second Class (Upper Division), Second Class (Lower Division) or Third Class save that exceptionally a degree may be conferred without classification.
4.	Subject to the requirements of the relevant programme of study, each person on whom an Honours degree is to be conferred shall be assigned to a classification determined by the University according to its regulations.
5.	For the calculation of scores for classification purposes in the degree of Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Economics (with Finance), the University has deemed that “Group (a)” shall consist of the best 40 credits in courses at Higher level listed in Table 1, and that “Group (b)” shall consist of the best 40 credits in courses at Higher or Middle level listed in Table 1, where such credits are not taken into account in “Group (a)” . Further, that “X” shall equal one, that is “Group (a)” and “Group (b)” shall be equally weighted. (Refer to the paragraphs on Classification of the Degree with Honours of the Regulations for the Award of Undergraduate Degrees.)

Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Economics (with Management) (BSSCHEM)
1.	To be eligible for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Economics (with Management), a student shall:
	a)	comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
	b)	comply with the Regulations for the Award of Undergraduate Degrees; and
	c)	obtain at least 160 credits* of which no more than 40 credits shall be obtained at Foundation level; and
	d)	obtain at least 40 credits in courses at Higher level; and
	e)	successfully complete the prescribed programme of studies.

		(v)	10 credits from MATH S242/STAT S242; and
		(vi)	10 credits from ECON A301 or 10 credits from both ECON A311 and ECON A312; and
		(vii)	10 credits from ECON A302 or 10 credits from both ECON A313 and ECON A314; and
	b)	successfully complete 60 credits from courses labelled SFH, SMH or SHH in Table 1, of which at least 20 credits must be gained at Higher level (labelled SHH) ^a,b,c,d; and
	c)	successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled BMH ^e in Table 1; and
	d)	successfully complete 20 credits from courses labelled BHH in Table 1.
	a:	Students who have successfully completed SOCI A202 or HIST A202 before the April 2001 presentation will be deemed to have satisfied the requirement of a 10-credit Middle level course labelled SMH.
	b:	Students who have successfully completed ECON A306 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirement of ECON A203 or a 10-credit Higher level course labelled SHH.
	c:	Students who have successfully completed ECON A320C or ECON A320 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirement of ECON A202C or a 10-credit Higher level course labelled SHH.
	d:	Students who have successfully completed any course labelled BHH before the April 2001 presentation will be deemed to have satisfied the requirement of a 10-credit Higher level course labelled SHH.
	e:	Students who have successfully completed FIN B382/FIN B400 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirement of FIN B280 and a 5-credit course labelled BMH.

Notes:

Students are required to complete either ENGL A100/ENGL A101 or BUS B100, MATH S112/MATH S122 or BUS B170 or BUS B171 and BUS B172/BUS B272 or BUS B273, and IT L150/IT E150 or BIS B220/BIS B121/BIS B123 to fulfil the requirements for the degree.
Courses form excluded combinations with other courses. Only one of the courses of the excluded combinations can count towards an OUHK award. Students should refer to the list of excluded combinations for details.
Courses no longer available.
Students who have successfully completed BUS B170 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of both BUS B171 and BUS B172, or both BUS B171 and BUS B272. Also, BUS B171 and BUS B272 have been combined into BUS B273. If students have successfully completed BUS B171 and BUS B272, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for BUS B273.
ACT B211 and ACT B212 have been combined into ACT B210. Students who have successfully completed ACT B211 and ACT B212 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of ACT B210.
Students who have successfully completed ECON A230 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of ECON A231 and ECON A232.
Students who have successfully completed ECON A230C will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of ECON A231C and ECON A232C.
Students who have successfully completed ECON A301 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of ECON A311 and ECON A312.
Students who have successfully completed ECON A302 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of ECON A313 and ECON A314.
Students who have successfully completed ECON A303 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of ECON A315 and ECON A316.
Students who have successfully completed MGT B393 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of MGT B396 and MGT B397. Also, the course codes of MGT B396 and MGT B397 have been revised as IB B396 and IB B397 respectively. If students have successfully completed MGT B396 and MGT B397, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for IB B396 and IB B397.
Students who have successfully completed FIN B380 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of FIN B388 and FIN B389.

Students who have successfully completed BIS B318 will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of BIS B316 and BIS B317.
The course code of MKT B390 has been revised as IB B390. If students have successfully completed MKT B390, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for IB B390.
