You are advised to have already studied FIN B280.
This course aims to provide learners with a solid knowledge about investment management. It introduces the modern investment theories that provide economic rationales for making investment decisions.
The course covers the following topics:
- Overview of investment theory
- Efficient market hypothesis and asset pricing models
- Common stocks
- Fixed income securities
- Portfolio management and introduction to derivatives
There will be five two-hour tutorials and one two-hour surgery.
There are two assignments and one examination. Students must use word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) to prepare the assignments, and submit the assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
