The Library's electronic resources is further enriched with new collection. Apart from full-text articles, E-Library also provides newspapers clippings and education videos to facilitate your learning and research.

Wish to know more about the political and historical events in the early 20th century? The newly subscribed ProQuest Historical Newspapers: South China Morning Post (1903-1995) provides users with online, easily-searchable first-hand accounts and unparalleled coverage of the politics, society and events of the period of 1903-1995.


Education videos from Alexander Street Press

The recently added education videos from Alexander Street Press covers various topics, such as arts, business, education, engineering, management, nursing, social science and much more. You may click here for the detail list of these videos.

 

To access the database or watch the videos, please visit the E-Library website (www.lib.ouhk.edu.hk) and type in the name of the database/videos under "Library Holdings", then click "Search".

Resources Update

Platform Update of Wisenews

Wisenews, one of the familiar databases, had migrated to a whole new user interface in August 2014. Wisenews provides access to the news from about 1,600 newspapers, magazines, trade journals, web portals, and news agencies published in the Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. Under the new interface, users will find searching and filtering the news articles easier and simpler.

To have a look of the new interface, please go to the E-Library (http://www.lib.ouhk.edu.hk), type in "Wisenews" under “Library Holdings”, and then click “Search”.

Library Workshops (October 2014)

The October 2014 Semester Library Workshops have already started. We cordially invite you to join our workshops to know more about the following topics:

  • Introduction to Library's collections, facilities and loan privileges;
  • Searching library resources via E-Library;
  • Hands-on practice on finding books and reserve materials, e.g. past exam papers;
  • Points to note when accessing E-Library from home or office.

Library Seminar: AdmanGo.com

AdmanGo.com provides advertisement tracking and media spending analysis information in Hong Kong. The database contains advertisements content, ad spend data, media purchasing pattern and ad market trend. To help our users to learn more about the features and function of this database, the Library invites the speaker from AdmanGo Limited to give a seminar. Details are as follows:

Book Display

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the OUHK, the OUHK Library presents a book display of "The Treasure of OUHK People over the Twenty-Five Years" from September 2014 to October 2014. Readers are able to read the inspiring stories and works of OUHK people, be they OUHK Council Members, Presidents, Honorary Graduates and Fellows, Staff and Graduates, over the past 25 years.

We may never feel enough in reading good books. Following the 25th anniversary book display, a book display on Mo Yan will be presented in November 2014. Mo Yan, recipient of Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012, is also an Honorary Doctor of Letters of OUHK. Readers will gain more understanding of Mo Yan's work as publications written by and on Mo Yan will be included in the forthcoming book display.

Both the current and forthcoming book display will be held at the 2/F of the Stanley Ho Library.

Loan Quota Increase (Pilot Run)

Starting from 1 August 2014 till 31 July 2015, all user categories will enjoy a double of the current loan quota of items from General Collection. The new loan quota under the pilot period is listed as below:

Resources from E-Library are easy to reach and free for use. However, users are reminded to comply with license agreements and the copyright laws. You may find out our "Responsible Use of Electronic Resources" message on our E-Library website. Systematic or excessive downloading and/or copying in any form or medium is prohibited by resources providers. They might cut off access to a particular e-resources from the entire University community if they detect just one case of systematic/excessive downloading!

Be considerate, be a responsible user of electronic resources.
