Resources Updates
Newly available in the E-Library in 2006, SpringerLink provides access to over 1,000 journal titles published by Springer and formerly Kluwer, with full text content dating back to 1997. Titles cover Business & Economics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Psychology, Social Sciences, Nursing, and so on. Psychological Research, Asia-Pacific financial Markets, Higher Education, User Modeling and User-Adapted Interaction are some examples.

New Database: World News Connection (WNC) Information contained in this database is compiled by the U.S. Foreign Broadcast Information Services (FBIS) from thousands of non-U.S. newspapers, television and radio broadcasts, and periodicals published around the world. Non-English news content from different countries was collected and translated into English.
To access, go to Electronic Library > Electronic Resources > Keyword Search > type in "wnc".
CINAHL (New Provider: EBSCOHost) The Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) provides access to nursing and health related content. CINAHL Plus with Full Text contains 300+ full-text journals, covers topics including legal cases, clinical innovations, drug records, instruments research reports, etc. Evidence-based Care Sheets and Quick Lessons are also available from this database.
As a companion database, Pre-CINAHL provides new journal articles which are yet to be indexed. This enables users to gain access to article citations that otherwise would not be available. Once the bibliographic records are complete, they are added to the CINAHL Plus with Full Text database and removed from Pre-CINAHL. ¡@ To access CINAHL Plus with Full Text or Pre-CINAHL, go to Electronic Library > Electronic Resources > Keyword Search > type in "cinahl". ¡@ Please also refer to the search guide for details on how to use this database.
PAIS International (New Provider: CSA) This database contains references to publications from over 120 countries throughout the world. Topics include Environmental Science, Political Science and Social Sciences. Information in PAIS can be traced back to 1972.

Service Alerts
Photocopier Card Refund Policy Octopus Card-Operated copiers will replace the Stored Value Card operated copiers gradually to provide a more convenient photocopying service to users. Users can now get a refund of the HKD$10 deposit and the remaining value upon presentation of their Open Learning Institute / OUHK stored-value cards in good condition to the Library Circulation Counter.
Extended Opening Hours during the Exam Period From January 30 to February 23, 2006, the Library will extend opening hour from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. A seat reservation scheme will also be in effect on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays (January 30-31, 2006). Seat Reservation Tickets will be issued at the Library Entrance at 9:00 am on a first-come-first-served basis. Click here for details.

Featured Resources: Nursing The Library provides a collection of electronic databases, journals, and printed books in the field of healthcare and nursing information. ¡@ For healthcare case studies, users can find abundant information using CINAHL Plus with Full text and MEDLINE, both are available from EBSCO. These databases also provide journal articles on nursing administration and management, health assessment, health promotion, psychiatric nursing, and so on. ¡@ Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition (HSNA) and Health and Wellness Resource Center (HWRC) provides excellent coverage about healthcare terminology and concept definition. Users can also search for drug usage, dosage, and related information using HWRC. ¡@ Cochrane Library contains evidence-based nursing resources and full-text review articles on the effects of health care. CINAHL Plus with Full text also provides 100+ evidence-based care sheet for standardize health assessment.

Journals: In addtion to databases, the E-Library also provides some individual e-journal titles. Here are some examples:
Age and Ageing - an international journal focus on research about ageing and clinical, epidemiological and psychological aspects of later life. ¡@ American journal of Nursing - the oldest nursing journal in the world. It provides authoritative evidence-based nursing and health information. ¡@ Clinical Nurse Specialist - focuses on diagnosis and treatment to prevent, remediate, or alleviate illness/suffering and promote health, written by clinical nurse specialists and other advanced practice nurses. ¡@ Journal of Nursing Administration - provides information on healthcare leadership development; human, material, and financial resource management; staffing and scheduling systems. ¡@ Nursing Research - covers key issues, including health promotion, symptom management, cost-effectiveness, vulnerable populations, health services, and community-based nursing studies. ¡@ To access these e-journals, please go to Electronic Library > Electronic Resources > Keyword Search > type in the journal title in quotation marks, e.g. "nursing research". ¡@ Books: Users can type in keywords in the Library Catalogue to search for nursing / healthcare related books available in the Campus Library. ¡@ The Library puts books of the same subjects together for easy shelf-browsing. Please refer to the classification number below and find the location of corresponding shelves using the Library map.
